WHO WE ARE

Sharon, Maria, Sarah and Leslie started Auckland Lactation Consultants to give women a safe and caring option for breastfeeding advice. As midwives, we at ALC have been helping mothers and babies for years, working to give them the best start in life.

For mothers, the challenges of having a baby do not end when you leave the hospital though. That's where our fully IBCLC qualified lactation consultants step in to support you.

RcpN, BHSc (Midwifery), IBCLC

Hi, I'm Sharon mum to 3 gorgeous sons. Due to their varying gestation's they gave me a variety of breast feeding experiences. I have always been interested in the psychology of the newborn, why babies do what they do and what the motivation/instinct is behind it as they adjust to their outside world and breastfeeding. I really enjoy supporting women to achieve their breast feeding goals in what ever that looks like for them in a non- judgmental caring environment.

Maria Rocard

BHSc (Midwifery), Dip Nat, IBCLC

I am a mum of 3 and I breastfed each of my babies for 2 years. This wasn’t easy, each was different and had its own challenges, but I’m happy I did it, because it was important to me.

Even though I am a qualified midwife breastfeeding was initially still one of the hardest things I have done in my life.

I have worked as a midwife for over 20 years and became a Lactation consultant in 2011 to add another dimension to my practice and a happier work life balance.

There isn’t one solution that works for everyone for breastfeeding, but I enjoy working out what it takes for Mum and Baby to breastfeed successfully. I have a very pragmatic, no judgement approach to caring for my clients.

I believe in a family’s right to information and appreciate their good sense and ability to use it to make informed choices that enhance their own lives.

I am also a qualified Naturopath and prefer to use natural remedies when possible.

Sarah Page

RNZGON, RM, BHSc (Midwifery), IBCLC

My qualifications include being an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and a member of the New Zealand Lactation consultant Association.

I am a Mother of three wonderful sons, a registered Midwife, with a Bachelors degree in Health Science (Midwifery) and a registered General and Obstetric nurse.

For me, being a Parent is the most important, challenging, and rewarding experience. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills gained over the last 35 years to assist new parents to achieve their breastfeeding and parenting goals.

I believe in a balanced, gentle and caring approach that focuses on the individual and holistic wellbeing of Mother and baby.

Leslie Monigatti

RNZGON, IBCLC RCM, ADM, BA (Nursing), MA (Midwifery)

I am a mother of 3, a girl and 2 boys and I breastfed all of them for over a year, including the last who was born at 26 weeks. I qualified as a registered nurse before training as a midwife and have been a Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2011.

I am passionate about providing quality care to women and their partners in their transition to parenthood and beyond. In my role as a Lactation Consultant I aim to assist parents to overcome any concerns and difficulties they experience when feeding and caring for their babies, as well as empowering them in their decisions in regards to parenthood.

As Maria says, no one solution works for everyone and we believe in a family’s right to information, with a no judgment approach, to assist them in making informed choices that fits with their own philosophy and life style.
